“Please check your underwear.” The sign at the exit door to SkyJump Las Vegas says it all. The newest thrill ride atop the Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower is sure to get some juices flowing… if only just a few sweat beads on the brow. SkyJump is the highest controlled freefall in the world. An 855-foot leap of faith from the equivalent of 108 floors high above the Vegas Strip. After a safety briefing, adrenaline junkies are outfitted with custom jumpsuits, connected to a high speed “descender” and led to the edge of the SkyJump platform. A crowd gathers at the landing pad bullseye. Sanity is questioned. Only in Vegas do you see stuff like this.… A few #%$&*s later, jumpers plummet down at speeds topping 45 mph. Will you take that last big step? It all Depends …
SkyJump at Stratosphere Las Vegas Las Vegas, NV
To escape from Sin City's crowds and noise, and get a fresh breath of air, accelerate upward to the outdoor observation deck of the Stratosphere Tower. From this 866-foot-high platform (on the Tower's 109th floor), you'll get a commanding view of the Vegas Strip and downtown, while enjoying the cooling breezes. Look below at the bustle of traffic, while touring helicopters buzz by at eye level. Sunsets are spectacular to watch from here, and at night the city lights sparkle like colored jewels. Those afraid of heights can take it all in two floors lower, inside the glass-enclosed indoor deck with its 360-degree view of the city, suburbs, valley, and desert mountains. For cocktails and a gourmet dinner of Colorado rack of lamb, head to the Stratosphere Tower's revolving Top Of The World restaurant, where diners get a panoramic view every 80 minutes. Top it off with a cup of coffee inside the highest Starbucks cafe in the country.
