Museum-Going in the SOMA District of San Francisco

Two of San Francisco's three most prestigious contemporary art museums are located right across the street from one another just a block south of Market Street: the more mainstream SF MOMA, and the edgy Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Each museum has a theater which hosts upstart filmmakers, musicians, and performers, both emerging and established. SF MOMA's exhibitions tends to feature global marquee artists like Chuck Close, Gerhard Richter, and Matthew Barney, while YBCA's programming focuses on fringe cultures and up-and-comers like Miranda July -- and its urban gardens are primo city picnicking grounds. Giant chandeliers at Kearny & Calif.

I just love the majestic way these suckers line up and hang over me on my way in and out of my office at Tactical Telesolutions, 550 Kearny. So much cool scenery in this area. It’s no wonder tour buses roll by all day! These giant lights become kinetic art when the wind blows too. Scary and cool at the same time. They appear to be made of steel, so hopefully the metal thieves running rampant here in San Francisco won't try to steal them ;)
