Pedestrian overpass on Maryland side — Joe Peterson Like

Catching a Capitol View on the Wilson Bridge in Alexandria, Virginia

Catch the Capitol and D.C. monuments from an entirely new perspective as you hike or bike across the elegant, expansive arches of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, one of the area’s newest monuments. Start in Old Town Alexandria and work your way across the drawbridge to Prince George County, Maryland (or vice versa). With the grandeur of the Potomac River at your feet, you'll be able to pick out your favorite sites in D.C, Old Town Alexandria, and the new National Harbor complex in Maryland through telescopes at the viewing points along the bridge. If you’re lucky, the bald eagles that nest on Rosalie Island on the Maryland side may add a note of majesty to your excursion as they go soaring by.
