Reliving the Atrocities of War in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
The American War (as referred to by the Vietnamese) is brought to life with staggering clarity as you wander the grounds of the War Remnants Museum in the heart of old Saigon. From countless images of the men, women, and children impacted by Agent Orange to the infamous tiger cages used to house Vietnamese revolutionaries, the museum is a valuable reminder of the horror of war. Other curiosities on display include an imported French guillotine, assorted American aircraft and weaponry, and a touching statue made from bomb fragments left over from the war. While it would be easy to relegate these artifacts of tragedy to history, visitors will likely see makeshift bands of Agent Orange victims playing for donations in the streets.
