You will gasp when you first see Waimea Canyon. Over a mile long, and 3,500 feet deep, Waimea plays tricks on your eyes. From different vantage points, varied colors dominate, constantly changing what you perceive. Get a map at the ranger’s station and hike into the canyon for a closer look. Although smaller than its sister canyon in Arizona, the Waimea Canyon rivals it in beauty.
Hawaii is more than endless sunshine, crystal clear beaches, and evergreen mountain valleys. Located in southwest part of Kauai, this might be the best postcard worth photography spot on all of Hawaiian islands. At 3,400 elevation, you are presented with awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping, and photo-can't-justify lookout of Waimea Canyon. The Canyon, aka Grand Canyon of Pacific referred by Mark Twain, is 10 miles long and a mile wide and offers breathtaking view of true-gem of Hawaii that you can't experience from other islands. From left to right, your eyes will wonder whether you're truly in Hawaii or not for few moments -- enjoy the view, because you are not going to see anything like this!

Picturesque, pristine beaches – check. Awesome surf – check. World-class resorts, restaurants and spas – check, check and check. But what I never expected to find on the Garden Isle of Kauai? The stunning red rock formations of the Grand Canyon of Hawaii, otherwise known as Waimea. Though both easy and challenging hiking trails abound, I decided to drive to the top, where I’d heard a special treat awaited. No, not shaved ice. Clouds. Actual clouds. I was above them, in fact, looking past a gorgeously deep gorge out to the sparkling ocean. Best. View. Ever. Check and mate.
