Photographing the Surf, Sun, and Sand in Honolulu, Hawaii
A surfer's haven of all things beach and sunshine, Waikiki Beach is a summer's daydream. Yachts filled with tanned tourists sail in and out, children bodyboard the shallow waters, and for the hardcore surfers, the reef break awaits. Come sunset, the beach is almost deserted—the perfect time to whip the camera out. Aim to capture the essence of Waikiki and wait for surfers to walk by, the twilight sky to glow, and the lights of beachfront hotels to sparkle. Drop your ISO to the lowest setting, and rest your camera on a rock wall to make the waves glisten and blur in your image. Malibu boards may be good for surfing, but they're also great for photo props.
