Once a month, on an otherwise quiet Monday night in New York City, an eclectic crowd of music lovers is treated to a magical evening in Soho. Two long-haired brothers and a third compadre are seated with an acoustic guitar in one hand, a beer in the other. Without any fanfare, they begin to play and the rhythmic, familiar sound of the Gipsy Kings floods the restaurant. As the first course of the Italian prix-fixe menu arrives, guests can barely stay seated. The rumba gitana is just too sexy. A Flamenco frenzy ensues, with amateurs and professionals gliding and shaking around the makeshift dance floor, but all movement comes to a halt when the belly dancer appears. Like a snake, she charms every person she slithers past, hypnotizing even the bus boys. Chilled cocktails and prosecco can’t cool down the steamy heat in the room, and not one person is complaining.

Say goodbye to brunch as you knew it and lift your bloody mary to the newest trend in NYC, "dance on the table" brunch. It's happening every Sunday at Soho's new Italian spot, Via dei Mille and the recipe is simple; take your typical light fare of eggs benedict, crepes, and sparse salads, heavy up sparklers and magnums of Veuve Clicquot, invite a DJ and pretty people and watch the debauchery unfold. I stopped in at 4pm and found people dancing on every inch of elevated surface, including the beautiful marble bar and alcoves intended to showcase art. After downing a Bellini, I too boogied for a few minutes on a chair (when in Rome) before settling in for some incredible Italian cuisine. Try the gigantic mussels, VDM's signature pasta dishes (especially the paparadelle) and their infamously decadent Nutella crepes.
