Smelling the Flowers at the Tyler Rose Festival in Tyler, Texas
Stroll through Tyler’s municipal rose garden featuring 35,000 bushes on 14 acres during the Tyler Rose Festival. The rose is royalty in this East Texas town, and every year it is honored with much pomp and circumstance highlighted by the Coronation of the Rose Queen, a dramatic and heavily bedazzled presentation of the queen and her court. The designated royalty also gather in the municipal garden to the delight of starry-eyed little girls for a fairytale meet and greet, the Queen’s Tea. A parade, art show and rose show make up the less formal side of the affair while still honoring the town’s favored flower.
