Jumping Off the Edge of Tubbs Hill in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
By July, the water's just warm enough to go swimming in Lake Coeur d'Alene. Park your car on the west side of Tubbs Hill, and hike up the main trail for a few minutes until you come upon a series of boulders dotted with locals getting their sun on. Spread out over a warm rock overlooking the water until you're dripping with sweat, and then crawl to the edge to make sure there's nothing but swimmers below. When you're ready, take a few steps back and then run like hell toward the blue lake ahead. Gravity will take over from there, making sure you hit the water with a refreshing splash. No need to rinse, but definitely repeat.
