Tour de la Lanterne

One of three 15th-century towers on La Rochelle's waterfront. Used as a jail in the 19th century. As you climb to the top (for a view of the town and coastline), you'll pass carved graffiti left by former prisoners.

  • Pam Blackstone Yes, it is, Aimee. The tower is full of prisoner graffiti, though most isn't anywhere near as beautiful as this.
