Red Hook ESB - perfect with mussels! — Marsha Bowden Seekins Like

Savoring Mussels and Beer at Toby's in Coupeville, Washington

Penn Cove mussels are world famous. What better place to taste these delicious buttery, garlicky morsels than Toby’s Tavern in Coupeville, Washington, where you can be sipping a microbrew while looking for seals in the blue waters below. Toby’s occupies a historic (1890s) mercantile on the waterfront; in fact, it sits over the water, at least at high tide. Snag a window seat, order a 2-pound bowl of mussels and a side of fries to share with a friend, and you are set. (Hint: be sure to slurp up the juice!) Tired of the water view, check out the antique bar, brought around the Horn more than a 100 years ago.
