Hunting Ghosts at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado

For a century, the Stanley Hotel has overlooked the town of Estes Park. Built by steam car manufacturer, F.O. Stanley, it's seen is share of celebrity guests, including Theodore Roosevelt and Stephen King. Considered simultaneously one of America's most romantic and most haunted places, the Stanley's elegant accommodations come with a healthy dose of spookiness, with guests reporting ghostly music and apparitions. Paranormal investigators from TV's Ghost Hunters visited in 2006 and pronounced the place "definitely haunted." If you aren't into the paranormal, enjoy gorgeous views of the Rockies while sipping a latte at the outdoor cafe, a massage at the spa or a nap snuggled into a beautiful antique four-poster bed.

The Stanley Hotel

Deep within the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, The Stanley Hotel stands like a beacon on the hill with its brilliant white shining like an apparition since 1909. The stunning Georgian architecture of this historic landmark has served as an inspiration for many, including the Stephen King classic, ‘The Shining’. After spending a cold winter night at this desolate hotel during the off-season, Stephen King immediately experienced the isolation of this special place and the surrounding rugged terrain. A tour of this hotel provides a step back in time and for those interested in paranormal activity; these long halls provide plenty of accounts over the years. The surrounding mountain views are absolutely stunning while sitting on the grand front porch and soaking it all in.
