Swerving Through the Clouds in Amorgos, Greece
Taking a ferry to the easternmost of the Cycladic Islands in Greece will give you a chance to explore on a whole new level. By renting a motorbike in either the towns of Katapola or Aegiali, you can zip around the island's zigzagged roads. As you ascend the mountains overlooking the wine dark sea below, watch out for the multitudes of wild goats milling about in the road. They are often shrouded in clouds that are whipped against the cliffs by strong winds. And don’t forget your international driver’s license, a necessity to rent a kickin’ set of wheels. Also, make sure to ride to the spectacular monastery of Hozoviotissa, located on a windswept rocky perch. Its caretakers kindly reward pilgrims with a shot or two of liquor after the long climb to the top.
