Making the Most of Intermission at the Music Hall in Portsmouth, NH
The eclectic Music Hall offers a dynamic range of events from movies and music to dance and theater performances—even historical tours of the preservation work done on the 1878 building. (It’s a good thing they dim the lights during performances or the elaborately painted ceiling and proscenium arch might distract you.) And intermission will be a colorful part of your entertainment experience, if you adjourn for a drink in the sunken bar off the lobby. Ornate columns and red-velvet seating give the lounge area a theatricality of its own beneath multicolored ceiling lights, and the blue-lit bar lends a rich, underwater atmosphere to the area. As Ira Gershwin would have said, “’S wonderful.”
