Browsing for Indigenous Handicrafts in Pisac, Peru
On Sundays the picturesque alpine village town of Pisac transforms into a flurry of sights and sounds. The market buzzes with artisan highlanders descending to sell their goods to hundreds of assembled buyers. It’s all set against impressive Incan ruins scattered throughout the surrounding mountainside, and locals are often dressed in colorful traditional clothing. Most of the tourists are here for the handicrafts and folkloric performances, however many vendors bring fresh fish, meat, and produce to market. The Sunday affair is most notable and therefore well attended, however the market hums on Thursdays as well.
