The alluring aroma of fresh funnel cakes and sizzling hamburgers greets the visitors to La Mirada’s largely undiscovered water park, Splash! Hidden behind the local library and fire station, this $40-million facility features two Olympic-sized pools and a fantastic children’s area. The colorful water slides, lazy river, and shallow kiddie pool offer families a safe environment to play and soak in some rays. All ages get wet—from the toddlers taking swim lessons to the “mature” ladies in the water aerobics classes. A park for all seasons, the kiddie pool turns into an ice skating rink and winter wonderland after summer. Tucked into the heart of La Mirada, Splash! is a local treasure.
