Supping on Sweet Southern BBQ at Slow's in Detroit, Michigan
When most people think of the best place to get traditional southern barbecue, they don’t conjure up an industrial area in a northern city. But Detroit’s own Slow’s BBQ may change that assumption. Though it’s only a few years old, Slow’s has already garnered as much buzz as establishments open twice as long. Consistently recognized as one of the city’s best restaurants, it was also rated as one of the top ten new BBQ joints in the country by Bon Appetit magazine. The menu isn’t extensive, but it doesn’t have to be when everything is this good. Try the slow-cooked pulled pork with an assortment of sauces and a side of mac ‘n cheese, waffle fries, or coleslaw. Lick the sticky sweet sauce off your fingers and wash it down with a bourbon and lemonade.
