Downing Tequila in a Tiny, Cramped Bar in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Claiming to be the world's smallest bar, Slim's Elbow Room has several stools in its narrow space. Centrally located downtown, across from a shopping plaza, the open-air establishment blasts standard American tunes, from country hits to Johnny Cash's croons. If you're lucky, a straggler from another bar may loiter on the sidewalk and serenade you with Elvis' love songs. The walls are splashed with graffiti, bills from around the globe, and snapshots of tourists, and even though it's tiny—smaller than your hotel bathroom—it's the most happening (and least-pretentious) spot in Cabo. Here, the primary elixirs are tequila and beer; you're bound to become chummy with everyone, and take rounds of shots with them and your outgoing, down-to-earth bartender.
