Testing Your Countenance and Continence at Stratosphere in Las Vegas, Nevada
“Please check your underwear.” The sign at the exit door to SkyJump Las Vegas says it all. The newest thrill ride atop the Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower is sure to get some juices flowing… if only just a few sweat beads on the brow. SkyJump is the highest controlled freefall in the world. An 855-foot leap of faith from the equivalent of 108 floors high above the Vegas Strip. After a safety briefing, adrenaline junkies are outfitted with custom jumpsuits, connected to a high speed “descender” and led to the edge of the SkyJump platform. A crowd gathers at the landing pad bullseye. Sanity is questioned. Only in Vegas do you see stuff like this.… A few #%$&*s later, jumpers plummet down at speeds topping 45 mph.
