Stopping for Shepperd’s Dell Falls in Columbia River Gorge, OR
When traveling between all the other great waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge, don’t forget to stop at this little roadside delight. Tucked into a steep little slot in the gorge wall, Shepperd’s Dell Falls is hard to photograph for the same reason it was difficult to build a road past here. Just park in the turnouts on either side of the eponymous bridge and admire the 42-foot upper falls (horsetail type) and the 50 foot lower falls (plunge type) from the bridge sidewalk. A short walk down to the pool between the two falls allows you a great photo of the bridge, an engineering marvel in its own right.
