At first glance Schatzlein Saddle Shop may look like an escapee from Cheyenne, Wyoming, or some other western outpost, completely out of place on this gritty urban thoroughfare. Poke around and you’ll discover it's been a Lake Street fixture since before the roads were paved, in the same family since 1907. Today the store is run by six brothers and sisters, the founder’s grandchildren, who will greet you as you enter, assist you with clothing, or fit you for a saddle.
