Locally-made foie gras pate, delicately smoked salmon, and prosciutto await in the cooler, and all sorts of guilt-free munchies make this the go-to spot for picnic fixings. Once you've stocked up, head down around the side alley to Rubi's, the store's own coffee shop for made-to-order lattes and cappuccinos that are guaranteed to supercharge the rest of your day.

If there were more hipsters in Great Barrington, they’d congregate at Rubiner’s Cheesemongers and Grocers and the related Rubi’s Coffee and Sandwiches around the corner. The spare decor, carefully curated food selection, and fashionable employees at these sister shops seem like they’re straight out of Brooklyn or Portland. At the cheese shop, you can sample everything from parmesan to chevre, arranged from hard to soft on a long marble counter. The surrounding shelves are well stocked with unique gourmet foods that you won’t find in every other New England gift shop. At the cafe, you can relax at a large communal table while enjoying a rich hot beverage and a pressed sandwich (made with standout sharp cheddar, of course).
