Biking and Breakfasting in Seal Beach, California
There's no more authentic So Cal experience than breakfast at River's End. The dripping surf boards leaning along the sand side of the fence belong to the bare-chested guys in the wet suits who packed it in when the ocean went flat. The bicycles on the parking lot side belong to the dozens of spandex-clad riders who flock to this cafe on weekends. The fare is old-school diner meets California cuisine; good, filling and priced right. Alone among seaside eateries, River’s End Cafe is on the sand, away from other habitation, at the junction of three busy bike paths, and just a few hundred feet from the Pacific Ocean. You can drive here, but don’t. Bike down the San Gabriel River path from El Dorado Park and enjoy the view.
