Jumping in the Lake with Man's Best Friends in Austin, Texas
There are dog parks, and then there’s dog heaven, otherwise known as Red Bud Isle. Surrounded by Town Lake, this small island-turned-dog-park makes most human parks look pretty shoddy. As people stroll along this oasis' tree-lined paths, dogs wag their tails and chase each other—sometimes straight into the lake. It's not uncommon for their humans to follow them in for a swim, a game of fetch, or even a kayak ride. Owners of water-phobic dogs need not worry, though. The park is great place to explore, sniff, and cool off, lake or not. Thanks to the trees hovering overhead, Red Bud Isle is at least ten degrees cooler than the rest of Austin, even on the hottest days.
