The 5.5-mile excursion takes you tiptoeing over babbling brooks, traipsing through narrow switchbacks covered with mossy rocks, and into the thickest part of the forest to soak in the glorious silence. Just when your ankles grow weary from this strenuous trek, you come upon a break in the trees that signals the end of your ascent to Raven Rocks. The 1,350 foot overlook offers jaw-dropping views of rolling hills and farms of the Shenandoah Valley below that will sweep you off your feet (not literally—it'd be a long way down).
