Strolling Through a Seaside Sculpture Garden on Isla Mujeres, Mexico
Colorful Isla Mujeres, Mexico is not all beautiful beaches, friendly people, and Mexican restaurants. This little island is also home to an outdoor art gallery for travelers wanting to mix a little culture into their beach vacation. Created in 2001, this exhibit is a tribute to the area's indigenous Mayan civilization. At the southern tip of the island, in Garrafon Reef Park, you can stroll along a pathway leading to dozens of kaleidoscopic sculptures with the sky, the Caribbean Sea, and a temple to Ixchel, the Mayan goddess of the moon, as their backdrop.
