Don't ask a coffee-related question unless you really want the answer, because the people at Philz did their thesis on coffee. Just come ready for the bracing smell, the theater—Philz pours the brew from one cup to another (and they don't spill!) to aerate and enhance the coffee flavor. Wander outside and pet the bulldog (statue). Inhale your brew. Sip and taste with the end of your tongue. Let it slide around and finally swallow. Feel the warmth come up from your feet. Watch the parade of life, and guess each Philz customer's coffee profile. Who's an espresso drinker? Who's a black coffee purist?
