Swimming in Seclusion at Pasir Putih in Perasi, Bali

Perasi's white sand beach, also known as Pasir Putih or Virgin Beach, is an angel among demons—its pristine white sand a stark contrast from the coarse black sand found everywhere else in Eastern Bali. Hidden from tourists’ view with only a handwritten sign as a clue to its location, this beach is accessible only to the most intrepid of travelers. Ask around town for directions. Your reward is seclusion: a clandestine, idyllic beach free of peddlers and drunken surfers. Refresh with fruit and Bintangs at one of the several warungs before enjoying the breeze under the lounge umbrellas. Before you get too comfortable, don’t forget that a dip in the ocean’s warm waters is the perfect antidote to the mid-afternoon heat.
