Going Medieval-Style With Bareback Riders in Siena, Italy
Twice a year in Italy, a bizarre form of horse racing re-emerges in Siena's Palio, an unorthodox race including jockeys riding bareback, horses finishing the race without riders, and spectators drinking grappa all along the course. Ultimate Fighting Championship fans who don't typically enjoy equine events will probably like this one. Of course, it's all based in medieval tradition, so don't worry — regulations are not likely to be instituted any time soon.
