Taking In the Morning View in Cortona, Italy
Any backpacker knows that more often than not, staying in a hostel is not a glamorous experience. However, that doesn’t stop the occasional pleasant surprise – like waking up on a glorious day in Cortona, Italy, to the tolling of church bells, resounding from right outside Ostello San Marco. From the window you can see the sun rising, the Tuscan horizon fading endlessly into the blue. The swell of rolling fields in hues of brown and green, pigeons perching lazily on terracotta roofs; those things are worth far more than the meager price paid for a dorm bed.
