Finding Books, Art, and Live Music in Long Beach, California
Fans of used books, independent press, art, and live music can all find something to like at {open}, located amongst the funky vintage clothing and furniture stores of the 4th Street Retro Row. From the front window display of vintage cameras and typewriters, a familiar used-book smell welcomes you into the bookstore proper. There, an array of used literature, art, and pop culture books and magazines awaits discovery. Beyond the bookshelves, comb through used vinyl collected on the small stage, which has hosted authors, local musicians, and rock stars (e.g. Billy Corgan and Dave Navarro) alike. Stroll past the "OPEN" art display to find yet another room filled with used books—a hidden gem within a hidden gem.
