Ponder a quake, the earth trembles beneath feet as water meets subterranean hell fire and brimstone. Befitting its name, it is the most predictable eruption on the planet. This colossal column of Grade Ten Whitewater rapidly seeks its high tide 150 feet in the sky. Nearly every 90 minutes the geyser flies up like a Jurassic bird and waves its tail plume of some 8,000 gallons. Arguably the most impressive use of all that boiling water was as a supercharged washing machine for Sheridan’s Army, great for cottons and linens but tore the woolens to shreds. Back at the lodge is a full service laundry, or infinitely more fun, bikes and horses for rent. It is an easy ride around the area with geysers near the path to stir the greening of imagination - what to do with a geyser?
