Meadering Magically at Olbrich Gardens in Madison, Wisconsin
Wandering through Olbrich Botanical Gardens makes you feel a bit like you're in some sort of dreamy, floral fantasy. The landscape changes quickly and dramatically, yet manages to always sustain a magical quality. The foliage-chasing adventure begins in the towering, tropical conservatory, with its jungly atmosphere and hide-and-seek-playing critters. It continues outside on a roundabout trail that leads to displays ranging from highly manicured to au naturel—including an herb garden that will stir your appetite with its fragrant aromas, a rain garden that doubles as an environmental helper, and a serene, wild meadow. Shining radiantly and hard to miss on sunny days is the golden, authentic Thai pavilion—one of only a few found outside of Thailand—and its accompanying garden and statues. You'll want to grab a map before you start exploring this flowery wonderland, although getting lost here wouldn't be such a bad idea.
