Rockin', Rollin', and Cocktailin' at Mojo in Leeds, England
“Music for the people” proclaims a neon sign above Mojo’s bar, although to be more accurate this should read “music for people who want more than the bland, inoffensive tunes commonly piped into standard city-centre establishments”. Mojo plays ‘real’ music, throbs with a unique vibe (two parts rock-retro, one part caribbean-cool), and boasts a cocktail list longer than a Jimi Hendrix solo. The clientele generally score high on the hip-scale (any attempt to break out the air guitar is likely to be met with derision), but though it’s small, dark, and usually to crammed the point of anarchy, Mojo is fast becoming a Leeds institution.
