Minuteman Bikeway — Dan Weber Like

Riding Like Paul Revere, Minus the Horse in Cambridge, Massachusetts

Boston has an odd relationship with cyclists. The city’s narrow, hopelessly tangled streets limit sight lines and crowd bikes and cars into uncomfortably small spaces. Luckily, the Minuteman Bikeway begins just steps from the northern edge of the MBTA’s Red Line in Cambridge. Like most paved urban bike trails, the Minuteman was traversed by locomotives before its conversion for bikes. Unlike most paved urban bike trails, this one is nearly identical to the path Paul Revere took on his famous ride.

If you could take just one photo: Minuteman Bikeway

Whether you start in Cambridge or Bedford, MA the Minuteman Bikeway is a great way to get outside, breathe in some fresh air and re-live history (in your mind). You can walk, jog, bike, roller blade, or any other form of non motorized movement for 11 miles through Bedford, Concord, Lexington,Cambridge and Arlington,MA. Along the way are the historic sites, cemataries, monuments and markers where the American Revolution Began in 1775. You can stop along the way of the bikepath and visit the historic city of Lexington, Ma. There are shops, restaurants, museums and the like along with a pond, park, baseball field, walking trails, etc. all along the way. Pedestrians, strollers, dogs on leashes, bicycles, all blend together well in a fun, friendly paved trail.
