Spotting Wildlife in Minto Brown Island Park in Salem, Oregon
Stroll through Minto Brown Island Park in spring or summer and you'll understand why it's a wildlife refuge. If you're quiet, you may see a deer and its fawn nibbling leaves in the distance. At the pond, you can watch newborn ducklings take their first waddles before plopping clumsily into the water. If you hear a rustle in the rushes, keep an eye out for crafty nutria. Enjoy the park's chorus of bird songs and frog croaks, but please don't feed any species you find—unless its a Homo sapiens.
