The moment I stepped onto the property of Lustre Pearl I was captivated. There’s something oddly comforting about crunching gravel underfoot and stomping over wooden boards to get your can of Lone Star, its iciness seeping into your fingers and making you long for a koozie. Step outside onto their back deck, and be instantly warmed by the fairy lights that swoop and dance, dangling just out of reach above your head. Is there anything more lovely than fairy lights? I think not. The back is full of long picnic tables and benches, encouraging strangers to share a seat, share a beer. It’s warmth and ease and satisfaction, all wrapped up in one place. Go here.

After a long day, all you want to do is go home, put your feet up, and crack open a beer. And at Lustre Pearl, you do just that: walk into a deteriorated old house, order a pint at the bar, and enjoy it on the porch or under the shade of the tree in the front yard. This drinking spot, a short stroll from downtown, sits across from an IHOP in an unassuming neighborhood of small homes. Inside, the chipped-off paint on its windowpanes and cracks and patches on its pale blue walls help to create a charmingly dilapidated space. The huge backyard of wooden tables is inviting—the "Welcome Home" greeting across the rear fence says it all. There's a jukebox, ping pong tables, and foosball table, not to mention a fireplace indoors that beckons you to sit and chat all night long.
