Locust Lake State Park is a small, but family-friendly park offering fishing, boating, and kayaking; swimming on its sandy beach; camping with RVs and tents; a paved path for biking and walking; marked hiking trails, and various nature talks and programs. Birders can observe bald eagles, osprey, and other water fowl, raptors, and song birds. In the winter, people come to ice skate and set up their portable tents for ice fishing.

If you cannot go to a warmer climate in the winter, why not just layer it up in warm clothes and visit your local state parks? For example, in addition to biking and walking on the paved path (unless it is snow-ice covered) that circumvents Locust Lake State Park (Schuylkill County) in Pennsylvania, you can also ice skate or participate in ice fishing on this man-made lake.
