Walking Through a Peaceful Japanese Garden in Hilo, Hawaii
If you are in a meditative mood, do as the Hilo locals do, and wander the Japanese gardens of Lili’uokalani Park. On your journey through these expansive city gardens, you cross over curved stone bridges, under pagodas, and past still ponds. Stopping to sit on a grassy lawn, you watch the mynah birds hop around, cawing crankily, while fishermen reel in their morning catch. Because this is rainy Hilo, and short, intermittent showers happen here almost every day, bring an umbrella, and on your way back, stop to look out over the bay, where if you are lucky, a rainbow may appear.
