Communicating with Peacocks at Leo Carrillo Ranch in Carlsbad
In addition to the garden-variety bright blue peacocks you've seen, at the Leo Carrillo Ranch, they also come in albino white, and can be heard communicating to each other from high in the trees. A richly-storied estate that is free to the public, this is one of Southern California's little-known gems, hidden in the hills of Carlsbad. Formerly owned by the actor Leo Carrillo long before tract housing made its way here, this place is wonderful for a romantic picnic or an outing with the kids.
