If you could take just one photo: A flowering cup of tea
Hidden within the walls of Portland's beautiful Lan Su Chinese Garden, the Lan Su Teahouse shimmers like an exquisite pearl. A feast for the eyes and ears alone, the rich wood and shining marble interior resonates with traditional (and often live!) Chinese music, welcoming everyone from lingering tourists to locals seeking a brief lunchtime sanctuary. But the dizzying selection of fragrant teas (served by traditional ceremony, if you like) and delightful little dishes of Asian goodies exceed expectations. Sip steamy, aromatic tea from a delicate cup and savor velvety sweet mooncakes, crunchy almond cookies, salty dried horse beans, chewy spinach dumplings or savory tamari noodles. Then, when you can sip and nibble no more, slip outside and stroll through Portland's loveliest urban sanctuary where the water is always rippling and something is always in bloom.
