Scarfing Down a Sweet Late Night Roman Tradition in Italy
Americans have after-hour clubs and Romans have late-night cornetterias (purveyors of pastries). After a long night of swaying to hip-hop beats in a Roman discothèque, heading to Lambiase Pasticceria on Via Cernaia is a sweet way to end your night. Since Lambiase is underground and almost completely unrecognizable, this is a great spot to hang with the locals and get a taste of an authentic Roman tradition. While there are many pasticcerias (pastry shops) across Rome that re-open when the bars close, Lambaise’s house specialty, sorchetta con doppio schizzo, (don’t worry about the English translation) along with the friendly, yet elusive Romans-only vibe, makes this particular pasticceria the perfect Italian dénouement.
