You'll slowly descend one of the highest sea cliffs in the world the surf crashing below to the remote town of Kalaupapa. The nearly three-mile trail, with 26 switchbacks, winds through a national park, introducing you to one of Hawaii’s most unexplored areas—and for good reason, it was once a leper colony. After reaching Kalaupapa, you'll take a tour of the historical sites, including the gravesite of Father Damien, the priest who served the island’s outcasts.
