Getting Caught in a Shower of Leaves in Flagstaff, Arizona
Warning: Golden leaves swirling about unpredictably and raining down upon you in high volumes may lead to emotional ecstasy and camera fatigue, especially when the air is crisp, the breeze incessant, and the sky a dark blue, as it typically is in late October in the Kachina Peaks Wilderness, just North of Flagstaff, AZ. As I meandered along the foliage-carpeted footpath 7,500 ft. above the city, I was transported to a scene from the film Legend, where it seemed anything might emerge from around the bend. While I didn't encounter a unicorn or an elfin Tom Cruise on my hike, I did witness the extraordinary transformation of a dense Aspen forest in the throws of embracing autumn with everything it had...and it felt like time was standing still.
