Seeing a Sign From the Top in the Hollywood Hills, California
The Hollywood Hills are home to more than a spin-off reality show; they’re an outdoor paradise only a few hundred feet above the streets of Tinseltown. Check out Bronson Canyon, where a 1.5-mile trail leads you from grassy fields to a clutch of man-made caves carved out by an early-20th century quarry. The caves’ film credits include Star Trek, Bonanza, and a starring role as Batman’s garage. Don’t miss views of the Hollywood sign at adjacent Griffith Park, which is itself worth a visit even if you’ve seen the famed observatory; the 4,200-acre park is also home to the Ferndell Nature Museum, a shady oasis with winding trails under a canopy of sycamores.
