Floating the Day Away on the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels, Texas

Inflate your tube and join the hordes of people floating down the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels. You can either camp along the banks and play in the river at your leisure or go with a river outfitter who can rent you a tube not only for yourself, but also for your cooler. Any given float ranges from small rapids to calm water which requires you to paddle along, before you depart the river a few hours later sun-burned and water-logged. One wardrobe word of advice – shoes. Forget your fashion concerns: the bottom is rocky, slippery and wreaks havoc on bare feet.

  • Tim Lookingbill That's not a picture of the Guadalupe River. That's the Comal River and the Coll Street condos on the upper left. San Antonio St. Bridge is in the distance.
