If you could take just one photo: a foaming pint of Guinness
Whatever the toast that you say. Be it “Cheers”, “Prost”, “Skål”, or “Gan bei”. May you say it with Pat, while he wears his green hat, at The Green Cap on Laiguangying Way. Everyone thinks they're witty after a pint (or two), myself included, but if lousy limericks and poor prose don't entice you to ascend the rickety steps to the second floor Irish bar in the 'burbs of Beijing, well then, just go for the beer. With Guinness and Carlsberg on tap and over 20 bottled varieties, the beer might be the draw but the camaraderie will keep you. Comfortable seating, a delicious, artery-clogging bar menu, and whatever sport you desire on the four TVs have earned The Green Cap a devote following. Thursday night Pub Quiz, MC'd by Pat Walsh (owner), draws a boisterous crowd with lots of 'witty' folks. Stay late and you'll be sure to score day old pretzels from the German Bakery downstairs. Mmmm...Slainte.
