Going to the Grand Lake Theater is like stepping into a museum of Hollywood at the height of its glory. Located on Oakland's famed Lake Merritt, this cinema was built in 1926 by the Fox Theater Chain and restored in the 80's when it was converted into four theaters - one main, one balcony and two smaller theaters. There is even a Wurlizter organ that raises out of the floor of the main theater on Friday and Saturday nights when performers delight the audience before showtime.
