Sailing the Textile Seas in Cambridge, Massachusetts
The first thing you see when you enter the Garment District is an expansive collection of Halloween costumes. The second is the largest heap of clothing you've ever laid eyes on. Spanning nearly half of the first floor of this "alternative department store" is a mountain of previously-owned jeans, sweaters, dresses, and footwear that could easily fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool. This is appropriate, considering you're all but required to swim through the garments before sifting through prospective pieces on the ground or in one of the on-site sofas. Your efforts do not go unnoticed, however; each pound of clothing costs a mere $1.50. A bargain and a workout? I'm on board.
