Finding a Well-Kept Secret in New York, NY
Out of the pedestrian’s immediate sight, this gallery is tucked away on the fourth floor of Hermès’ Madison Avenue flagship store. While this intimate space occasionally hosts cocktail parties for the élite, it is open to the public. There, the Hermès Foundation, which also supports emerging artists, has presented photography by rock musician Lou Reed, Bauhaus luminary Josef Albers, and Great Depression documentarian Walker Evans. The gallery features three to five exhibitions—typically of photography—per year.
